Dear Beloved Traveler,
Welcome to Issue Three of The Aligned Growth Journal.
You have come far—and now, the path narrows.
This is the place of Surrender—the third Sacred Signpost. Here, we are invited not to strive, but to release. Not to gather more, but to shed what no longer serves our soul.
This issue is tender. Honest. Holy. Because surrender is never easy—but it is always sacred.
To surrender is not to lose. It is to open.
To shed is not to diminish. It is to make space for what is truer, lighter, more alive.
We walk this path with you. We know what it is to unclench, to yield, to say yes even with trembling hands. And we know the sweetness that follows: peace. Relief. Clarity. Trust.
As you enter this issue, may you breathe deeply.
May you feel the safety of sacred ground.
And may you discover that in the letting go…
you are being made new.
With tenderness and courage,
Janie & Kathy

Signpost Spotlight: Secrets — Surrender — The Sacred Yielding
There comes a time in the sacred journey
when the soul cannot carry it all.
We come to the third signpost, Surrender
and we hear the whisper:
“Lay it down.”
Not because you’ve failed.
Not because you’re not strong enough.
But because it is time.
Time to shed the layers that no longer fit—
the expectations, the control, the constant effort to hold it all together.
Time to let grace do what striving never could.
Janie often says: "Surrender is not about defeat—it is about desire."
The desire to be free.
The desire to live in rhythm with God’s Spirit, not our own effort.
To surrender is to trust that even what falls away
is held in the hands of Love.
Jesus said, “Whoever wants to save their life will lose it,
but whoever loses their life for Me will find it.” (Matthew 16:25)
In this space, we learn to shed—not with fear,
but with faith.
And as the leaves fall, the roots go deeper.
So take a breath, dear traveler.
Unclench your soul.
The path of Surrender is not the end.
It is the sacred middle—the holy becoming.
Step Three on the Sacred Path: The Unclenching
There is a holy hush in this place.
You’ve arrived at the third signpost—Surrender.
Not a command. Not a demand.
But a tender invitation.
To unclench.
To exhale.
To let fall what was never yours to carry forever.
This is where the tree lets go of the leaf.
Where the soul, weary of holding,
opens its hands.
The shedding is not failure.
It is faith.
The earth will hold what you release.
God will hold you.
Walk slowly here.
Lay it down.
And listen for the Voice that whispers:
“I was never asking for more from you—only more of you.”
Aligned Growth in Action
Case Study: Mya's Surrender
Maya was known for her strength.
She was the one others called when things fell apart. She carried her family’s needs, her team’s pressures, her own expectations—all with a calm smile. But deep inside, the weight was growing unbearable.
One day, during a quiet moment at a SoulCARE gathering, Maya read the word Surrender etched into a stone at the third signpost. She felt something crack.
A whisper rose in her chest:
"You don’t have to hold it all anymore."
Tears came—the kind that rise not from sadness, but from recognition.
Over the weeks that followed, Maya began a simple practice. Each morning, she placed her hands palms-down and named what she was shedding: her perfectionism, her over-responsibility, her fear of disappointing others.
Then she turned her palms up, asking: “What do You want to place here, Lord?”
At first, she didn’t feel anything. But slowly, her clenched spirit softened. She began to sleep better. Laugh more. Say no with peace. She even stepped back from a role that had once defined her—only to discover a new path emerging in its place.
“I thought surrender meant losing something important,” Maya said.
“But it gave me back my soul.”
Reflection Questions
What am I holding onto that is no longer life-giving—but still hard to release?
(What would it feel like to loosen my grip, even just a little?)
Where in my life do I sense God gently inviting me to surrender—not out of punishment, but love?
(What is the invitation beneath the discomfort?)
What truth about God—or about myself—do I need to remember in order to shed with trust?
(What promise gives me the courage to let go?)

Now all glory to God, who is able to keep you from falling away and will bring you with great joy into his glorious presence without a single fault. All glory to Him who alone is God, our Savior through Jesus Christ our Lord. All glory, majesty, power, and authority are His before all time, and in the present, and beyond all time! Amen.
