Dear Beloved Traveler,
You’ve taken the first step—and now, the path draws you deeper.
Welcome to Issue Two of The Aligned Growth Journal, where we linger beside the second Sacred Signpost: Secrets.
If Sweetness was the breath of invitation, Secrets is the whisper of intimacy. It is here, in the hidden places of the soul, that God meets us—not to expose or shame, but to gently unveil what is true, tender, and ready to be healed.
This issue invites you to slow down and listen for the quiet stirrings within—the longings, the questions, the buried places where love is still learning to land. In the safety of His presence, secrets can become sacred stories. Wounds can become windows. And the deep can call to Deep.
We are honored to walk this sacred path with you. As you scroll through these pages, may you feel surrounded—not by pressure, but by Presence. May this journal be both mirror and map. And may you know, more than anything else:
You are not alone.
With grace and peace,
Janie & Kathy
Signpost Spotlight: Secrets — The Hidden Place of Transformation
Secrets are holy things when held in the light.
We often think of secrets as shameful, something to hide. But in God’s heart, secrets are sacred. They are the buried truths, the unnamed longings, the quiet prayers whispered through tears. And in the sacred journey of formation, it is in these hidden places that the deepest healing begins.
Janie teaches that Secrets are not meant to be suppressed or exposed—but unveiled in the presence of Love.
The psalmist says, “You desire truth in the inward being; therefore teach me wisdom in my secret heart.” (Psalm 51:6, NRSV). It is there—in the secret heart—that the Spirit broods over our pain and our potential, offering not condemnation but compassion.
This second signpost is not always easy to visit. But it is essential. For until we allow God into the hidden places, we cannot be fully known—or fully free.
Secrets is where we meet the tenderness of the Shepherd who knows our name, knows our story, and never looks away.
Here, under the shelter of grace, we begin to see that even our secrets are safe in His hands.
Step Two on the Sacred Path: The Hidden Treasure
Not all growth is visible.
Some things bloom beneath the surface.
The second signpost, Secrets, invites you to lean into the mystery—
to walk gently into the hidden chambers of your heart,
where the Spirit is already waiting.
This is not the place of shame, but of treasure.
Here, beneath the noise and narratives,
God whispers your name.
He unveils the truth that heals,
and He restores what was buried in silence.
These are not secrets to fear,
but sacred invitations to freedom.
As you journey this sacred path,
may you come to know the God who hides treasures in darkness
and reveals truth through love.
This is the kingdom unfolding within you.
This is where you learn to see with the eyes of the soul.
Aligned Growth in Action
Case Study: Emma’s Hidden Truth
Emma was a woman who knew how to carry things well. A leader in her field. A faithful servant. A quiet strength in every room she entered.
But there was a locked room in her soul. One she rarely visited. It held childhood pain, unspoken questions, and an aching sense of unworthiness she couldn’t quite name. When others praised her calm, she smiled—but inside, she felt unknown.
During a SoulCARE retreat, Emma lingered at the second Signpost: Secrets. She read the Scripture from Isaiah: “I will give you hidden treasures, riches stored in secret places…” and something stirred. Could it be, she wondered, that the parts of her she hid were not burdens—but invitations?
In a moment of courage, she journaled a prayer she had never written:
“Jesus, I want to believe You love all of me—even the parts I hide.”
That simple act began a sacred unraveling.
Over the weeks that followed, Emma shared pieces of her story with a trusted spiritual director. She didn’t tell everything at once—just enough to breathe again. And what she discovered was this: when her secrets came into the light, they didn’t grow darker. They became doors. Doors into deeper intimacy with God.
Now, Emma says this:
“The truth didn’t shame me. It set me free. God was never afraid of my hidden places—only waiting to meet me there.”
Reflection Questions
What parts of my story have I kept hidden—even from myself?
(What would it feel like to bring one of them into the light of God’s love today?)
When have I sensed the Spirit gently revealing a truth I wasn’t ready to see—but now might be?
(How did I respond then, and how might I respond differently now?)
What does it mean for me personally to believe that “secrets” can be sacred—places of healing rather than shame?
(Where have I seen beauty rise from buried places?)
